“We are proud that in less than a year we are so invested in the future”, explains Rodrigo Guimarães.

The Rodrigo Guimarães Institute, founded in 2022, after the death of Explorer Investments founder, which gives the Institute its name, announced that this year it will grant more than half a million euros in scholarships and support study for young people.

The budgeted amount is 517 thousand euros and at least seven scholarships will be distributed in schools, 18 to support study and sports and 23 university scholarships.

Over the next ten years, the Institute foresees a total of five million euros in scholarships, support for organizations and talent creation programs in three programs: Pre-University, where students are supported with scholarships or computer material, before entering at the University; University, in which full scholarships are awarded for tuition fees, food and/or accommodation; Mais Horizontes( More horizons, where we intend to capture and create talent for Portugal.

“The idea is to create opportunities for young scholarship holders, to provide them with tools that allow them to go further and succeed in the future. That's why we have three types of scholarships, some for basic and secondary education, others for preparation for university life and still for university attendance. We want to follow the journey of our fellows from the very beginning. It is a source of pride that in less than a year we are so invested in the future”, explains Rodrigo Guimarães Junior, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute.

For Elizabeth Rothfield, vice-president of the Institute: “We work with important partners, who allow us to believe that in ten years we will be able to contribute with 5 million euros. We start this year with grants awarded, with grants in the application phase and with grants in the screening phase. This is a very relevant number and one that we believe will make a difference in the lives of young people impacted and in the country.”
